Minutes of the Leicestershire BNP Meeting, 30th September 2017

The Meeting, held in south Leicestershire opened at 2:30pm.

The Minutes of the last Meeting were read by Mike. Approved and signed off.

Matters Arising
A Social Evening was organised by Steve. This was agreed to be very enjoyable and a chance for members and friends to meet and discuss in an informal setting. It was noted that Brexit has since the time of our last meeting become a mess.

Elections
Steve stood as a candidate in Charnwood. Like Ukip we did poorly, but made our continuing presence known. Leicestershire members went to Stoke to help with David Furness' campaign in the by-election there.

Finances
Geoff updated us on Bob's legacies; his estate was heavily reduced by the Equity, he actually ended up owing £138,000, and Geoff warned that equity release was not such a good idea. There were also other problems with the solar panelling contract.
James gave an overview of our finances; Leicestershire branch is financially stable.

Future Plans
Geoff will be calling a Regional Meeting for October.
The future of the Branch was discussed.
A Social Evening for December was mooted.

Community Centre? Mosque? This is how it goes

On Sunday 5th Feb a group of Thurnby Lodge locals and BNP representitives held a flash demo outside of a community centre on Thurncourt Road.

Those of you that may remember, a 2 year long protest saw many unlawful arrests, compensation claims and police embarrassment.

It is about 5 years now since Peter Soulby gave a precious community centre to an outside entity known as As Salaam.

Just recently they have been publicly referring to the building as a mosque, much to the annoyance of the locals of Thurnby Lodge.

A group of locals organised a flash demo and asked if the BNP would also attend.
We were only too happy to show our support.
