Update on the mallards

In June, we reported on a female mallard who had made her nest by the pond in the Leicestershire garden of BNP Organiser, Geoff Dickens. It was a precarious spot, having little cover to protect the eggs from predators but the mother cleverly covered them with down and leaves whenever she left the nest.

We are pleased to announce that all 8 eggs were successfully hatched. Mother mallard and her ducklings are doing well and have now left the garden for the wilder parts of the Leicestershire countryside.
